WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRA & BRALETTE?

Welcome to the bra world, it took me quite some time to understand what bras actually are and what they do. Started from the bottom- teenage bras, padded bras, underwired bras and now bralettes! Everything was pretty confusing for me as a beginner but once I understood the usage of various styles, life has been so much easier.
Sometime back I came across this term ‘bralette’. I wondered what made it so different from other available styles and soon I was in love with bralettes. Let me explain you what differentiates a bra from a bralette.
What is a Bra?
A bra is an undergarment worn by women to support the breasts. This is probably the most popular definition of bra you must have heard or known. That’s right! Be it a padded, non-padded, wired or a non-wired one, they all come under the category of bras. Bras are available in different styles like T-shirt, balconette, plunge etc.
What is a Bralette?
Bralette is an amalgamation of a bra and a crop top. It is often crafted with pretty exotic laces and designed in sexy styles. Bralette are usually non-padded and non-wired which makes them oh-so-comfortable. They have a longline design that extends towards your upper waistline and makes it wearable as an outerwear too.
Wondering If You Should Try Bralettes?
If you are a petite women with a smaller breast size then congratulations! Bralettes work best for you. In fact, you can wear bralettes every day. You can pick triangular cups, non-padded & non-wired styles.
But if you’re slightly on the curvy side it may not be the best option for you to wear bralettes on daily basis. A bralette may not be able to give you as much support as your breasts may need. But worry not; we have got options for you too. Pick one that has underwired cups, a slightly deep neckline and a longer length. This will give an illusion of a great figure and underwired cups will give your breasts a gentle lift.
How can You Style a Bralette?
As I mentioned earlier a bralette is more of a crop top. The lacy ones look extremely pretty and you just can’t resist flaunting them. You could style a bralette like a top with maxi skirts, palazzos, culottes, under casual blazers and what not! But if you don’t want to expose that much skin then you could also style them under deep neck tops and let a little lace peek out. Or you could pick a designer back bralette and style it under open back or backless tops.
